How to Deal with a Backstabber at Work

Backstabbers exist throughout our society, and increasingly more so people will stab each other on the job, personal life, wherever to get ahead.  Duplicity can reign supreme on any job site-as any job site reflects society at large: good employees, slackers, harassers, bootlickers, and backstabbers.  There are some people in life who may feel that stabbing somebody in the back at work is the only way to advance.  They may mix false and true info, twist the facts to supervisors, managers and other co-workers about somebody.  This may also be done to take the spotlight over their own poor job performance, thefts, and other illegal activity on the job.  Or else, they do it in a vainglorious attempt to advance their own careers.

With many other issues on the job site, backstabbing has become an almost historical standard.  For employees to avoid this, of course do your job well.  If you are having any problems with work and other fellow employees-talk to a supervisor.  They are not taskmasters of old and lore.  If you deal with a problem by talking to a supervisor, there is less of a risk of another employee seizing upon an opportunity to go behind your back and stating that you are sloppy, incompetent and can't be trusted in your department or hob position.  There are also employees who take it upon themselves to act like bosses.  They think they are in charge, more than likely out of some misguided belief that they are advancing to the top.  Whatever the case, they can make your life a living hell on the job.

One advantage that an employee being backstabbed has is that companies generally hate serville snitches.  However, managers and supervisors have to investigate any negative remark made about somebody else.  So even if there is a shred of truth in it, the disparaging remarks made may warrant an investigation or reprimand against you.  Nothing hurts more than being backstabbed.  A very good way of dealing with it is not to overreact.  Keep calm, cool and collected in dealing with it.  Talk to the supervisor or manager privately and say you may have had some minor difficulties, but nothing on the scale and they are welcome to thoroughly check your work performance logs out. 

If you definitely know who backstabbed you, do not confront them.  This may make matters worse.  In your private dialogues with the bosses, point the person out and have their work performance pointed out.  Do this in a tactful way that doesn't get you reprimanded and fired too.  Usually, backstabbing employees are hiding problems of their own and may have huge glaring issues in their own work performance.  If you don't know who may have definitely backstabbed you, do not run around your job site giving everybody a leery eye.  Do your job to the best of your ability.  If you haven't done anything seriously wrong, the bosses will finding nothing substantive on you.  This will force them to grill the one who went behind your back and bring wanted scrutiny to them.  Remember, they are usually on thin ground and may face their own backstabber sooner or later.

In their case, they won't be able to hide their own bumbling and incompetence.
